INSPIRATION
Jean was captivated by the Isle of Skye some
37 years ago, driven from an early age by the challenge of
the rock and lure of the mountains.
The exhilaration of the great outdoors,
combined with Jean's passion for
climbing and walking, particularly in the Cuillin, led to her moving to
Glenbrittle shortly afterwards.
Whilst working at the Sligahan Hotel in mid 1970's to
subsidise her passion for Skye, Jean discovered an artistic talent that was to
combine both of her major interests (climbing and drawing) when she started to
sell etchings of the places and landscapes that she found so inspirational.
As a result of increasing demand for her work, Jean opened
the Loch Harport Gallery in 1983 to showcase her own work, as well as that of selected
artists with strong ties to Skye.
